NOTE: MY VIRGIN MOBILE IS A SIM, I.E. I HAVE A VIRIGN MOBILE SIM.

Sure, you can swap the SIM, and make calls and send texts, and you'll get some kind of data connection. But you might be missing a lot of iPhone features, including 3G data speeds, since that stuff is locked to the carrier.

(BTW, the other responder is probably in the US...Virgin uses CDMA phones over here, unlike the rest of the world, which nearly all use GSM).

Have you considered the Nexus One?

There are two GSM models that work on the two major carriers (T-Mobile and AT&T) over here. One of them will certainly have the proper frequencies to work there. The only drawback is the additional taxes/VATs you'd have to pay to have it shipped. The phones are all unlocked by default. I own one and it's incredible.

Perhaps if you have a friend in the US, you could work something out. icon wink Can i buy an unlocked iphone 3gs and put it onto a virgin mobile network?

  1. I used to have Virgin mobile and they did not use sim cards, rather a cdma chip built into the phone. But yes a unlocked iPhone will work on any card that supports sim cards.
