Where Can I Egt My Iphone Unlocked In Toronto?
Does anyone know if theres a store in a mall in toronto where i can get my iphone fixed? I restored it and now its locked again. I need it to be unlocked. I tried doing it myself with ziphone and quickpwn but i failed miserably. A little help anybody!
You can do this yourself. First off, you can't software unlock OS 2.2.1 with the new base band so you need to update to the new OS 3.0 software. With the new 3.0 software, you need to use a program called redsn0w to jailbreak the phone (this alone should unlock the phone if it is a 2G). When you jailbreak it will load an app called cydia, which is the jailbreakers app store. Open cydia and install a program called ultrasn0w (3G only). That will unlock your phone.
Here is a quote from the iPhone Dev Team Blog:
"redsn0w is an easy to use, multi-platform, multi-device jailbreaking and unlocking (iPhone 2G only) tool for the iPhone 2G (original iPhone), the iPhone 3G (but not the 3GS) and also the iPod touch (first and second generation). Currently it is available for Windows and Mac OS X (there are some issues using redsn0w with OS X PPC, please use an Intel Mac until we have this problem resolved)."
